Not in the Earthquake, Not in the Fire

We will consider an Old Testament narrative of the prophet Elijah, a figure venerated by Jews, Christians and Muslims.  When threatened with death for his religious witness by the new Queen of Israel, he fled in fear, thinking that he alone was left to carry on.  Seeking refuge and solace, he found instead inspiration and renewed strength to continue his work.  He found it not in the earthquake, not in the fire, but in a surprising place of stillness and silence.
