We will have a church yard sale on Saturday, May 18th from 8:30am to 1:00pm at the home of Helen Kane in Sanford. This is the day of her neighborhood yard sale and Helen has graciously offered her front yard for this very popular and well attended event.

Join us for a fun night out to benefit the non-food pantry, the Corner Cupboard, on Saturday, May 18th at the Nasson Community Center in Springvale. The evening includes a complete lasagna meal (choice of meat, vegetarian, vegan or gluten free) and two tickets for cash and gift card drawings worth over $500.00. There will be a cash bar, munchies and silent auction at 5:00pm, dinner will be served from 6:30pm to 7:30pm and the live auction will be held at 7:30pm. The final cash and gift card drawings will be held at 8:00pm.

Maine fiddler Hope Hoffman will present a lively and inventive performance of original tunes and traditional Maine music. Corner Cupboard - Non-Food Pantry

Please note, for the month of May ONLY, we will be open on the fourth Saturday of the month, May 25th, same time of 10:00-2:00.

Who Are We? A group of social-minded volunteers founded the Corner Cupboard, a non-food pantry, dedicated to providing essentials to families and individuals living in York County, the most populated and fastest growing county in Maine. This grassroots organization is sponsored and housed in the Sanford Unitarian Universalist Church.

The Corner Cupboard’s primary goal is to assist people in meeting their basic needs for living, to increase their quality of life and to fill in the gap for those who are struggling. We work collaboratively with other service agencies in the area.

All of them have helped to change the religious landscape concerning LGBT people. Sunday Services

CHURCH SERVICES are Sunday mornings at 10:30, with religious education available for pre-school through high school age children. Visitors are welcome to attend the service and stay for refreshments and conversation afterward. Child care is provided at all the services.

Selling Ads for the 2013-2014 Concert Series Program

We're seeking sponsors for our concert series for the upcoming church year. Ads will appear in our concert program for the full year and will reach a wide variety of community consumers. We will present a minimum of six concerts. Those purchasing ads will receive two complimentary concert tickets.

We offer ads for sale in our concert program at the following rates:

2 3/4" x 4 1/4" for $50
4 1/4" x 5 1/2" for $90
5 1/2" x 8 1/2" for $150

Shared Ministry with Half Time Minister

Beginning soon after our Congregational meeting in May, the SUUC Board, Committee on Ministry and Rev. Sue began working together on plans for the next church year. Our goal was to create a model for a whole ministry with a half time professional minister. We have been well served in this process with the assistance of Rev. Mary Higgins from the New England District. After several meetings, the Board approved this half-time job description and shared ministry plan on July 10th.

Shared Ministry With Half Time Minister at SUUC What does it mean? - 7/10/11

What does it mean to have a half-time minister? A “half-time” minister means that the minister will spend much less time physically present at the church and directly available to the membership. It means that to continue to be vibrant as a church we, the membership, must assume a greater leadership role both in our own church and in the wider community. In short, we must move toward and embrace a shared ministry.

Rev. Sue Gabrielson plans to be at church every Thursday from 9:00am through 9:00pm. During that time she will attend a variety of day and evening meetings, tend to administrative tasks and provide pastoral care. You may stop in as usual, but please call and make an appointment if you want to be assured of spending some time with her. You may also be in touch with Rev. Sue via email or cell phone, kindly understand that with her limited hours, unless it is an emergency, there may not be an instant response.
