On Sale Now: Our Updated Book of History

Have you ever wondered about the lifetime impact of our Unitarian Universalist R E program on a young participant, or pondered the lasting imprint of individual ministers on a congregant’s life? Are the goals and accomplishments of the 2nd Century Committee a bit fuzzy in your mind? Are you still perplexed as to the identities of The People of the Windows? Not sure how Corner Cupboard came into being, or how it survives and thrives?  The answers to these and hundreds of other questions can be found in the hot-off-the-press 2nd Century Edition of our dual-centennial history, aptly titled “The People of the Windows.” It is a big book, carefully researched over 4 years, a compendium of each minister’s tenure as reflected in members’ collective participation in all aspects of our church life.  I do not believe such a book could be accomplished today, in the Age of the Computer, when subtlety and nuance often give way to generic reportage at the expense of human interest and anecdote, and record keeping exists in a  cloud that might not be available in the future, when it’s most needed. We are indeed fortunate to have extant most of the original documents of our founding, hand-written in pencil, together with the myriad accountings of the progression of our church over the decades.  A flood or a fire of the kind experienced a few years ago at the Brunswick, Maine UU Church would decimate our records, and that is why it was important to me for our book of history to be written. I hope you find it both enlightening and interesting. The cost is $20.00, all proceeds benefiting our church. Purchase a copy now, signed by the author, LIMITED TIME OFFER! With each purchase, you will receive a free gift in each book: a copy of the self-directed Sanford UU Church historic walk to use as a bookmark!
