A New Years Homily—With a Little Help from Jack Kerouac

One of my accomplishments from the past year was to get out a book titled: The Gospel According to Jack—Tracking Kerouac in My Life. It has elements of a spiritual autobiography as draw on some of the passages from Jack Kerouac’s writings for the life lessons I find in them. For this sermon I draw on Jack’s best-known novel On the Road, using it as a metaphor for the life journey—or “road”—itself. As a New Year gets underway I’ll offer some thoughts on how we assess the courses of our lives as one year leads to the next. Join us as we welcome Rev. Steve Edington to our church.
