In the spirit of Advent, this week’s service will include reflections on the sweet sensations associated with “anticipation” – inspired by an essay, Fall from Grace, by Noelle Oxenhandler in which she sings praises for “waiting” and its “magical grasp upon the future.”  And since this is the last time I will preach before Christmas, I’ll offer a few thoughts (though hopefully without ghosts) on the past, present, and future of this major holiday in the Christian calendar. – Tom Putnam
