Why Jack Kerouac Still Matters

Please join us as we welcome Rev. Steve Edington to the pulpit with his service titled Why Jack Kerouac Still Matters.

Rev. Steve writes: For nearly the past 30 years I’ve been a member of an organization in Lowell, Massachusetts that produces an annual Kerouac Festival in his home town—and have even served as its President for a couple of terms. I’ve also written three books that deal with Kerouac’s life and literary legacy.

So, on this Sunday I will share some of my “Kerouac Life” with you and say why I feel he is such an important writer. He was a life-long Catholic and developed a strong attachment to Buddhism for a time—and I think he has some wise things to say to us UUs as well.
